About Foodhallen Amsterdam and the De Hallen
Foodhallen Amsterdam is the first of its kind in the Netherlands. The 1902-era De Hallen building where the indoor food market sits reopened in October 2014. A tram depot once upon a time, preservation played a key role during its transformation into a hip, trendy multi-use megaplex. The renovation process painstakingly retained its industrial character while bringing warmth and personalization to each space. The De Hallen Building is packed with shops, a cinema, television studios, apartments, a hotel and galleries. This building is a community unto itself.
The De Hallen’s “Foodhallen Amsterdam” follows in the footsteps of other high-concept European street food markets. Like Copenhagen’s Torvehallerne, the Borough Market in London and Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid. Enjoy gastric wonders from 20 different indoor food stalls. From sushi to burgers, dim sum to tacos, you can eat your way around the word in Foodhallen Amsterdam. Find your grub, pull up beside some new friends at one of the communal tables and enjoy your feast.
Also, aside from the Foodhallen vendors, sit-down restaurants include Brasserie Halte 3 and Meat West. All three combine to create a hip, trendy and social atmosphere.

Food isn’t the only thing going on in De Hallen Amsterdam. In addition to awesome Amsterdam street food, multiple specialized bars serve cocktails, wine and beer.
First and foremost, there’s Beer Bar, offering over 60 local and international beers. They also brew a couple of unique house beers exclusively at Foodhallen. For mixed drinks and wine, try the Wine Bar and G&T Bar, which boast a high variety of gins, tonics, fresh garnishes and wine. The Main Bar includes soft drinks, bottled beer, house wines, mixed drinks and seasonal specials.
